Class Calendar

Materials for all classes must be purchased at Knit On!  If you already have needles or other tools, those may be used in class. Unless otherwise noted, the cost of materials is not included in the fee. Fees are for instruction only.

Please call the shop to reserve your space in class. Class size is limited, so we ask that you pay ahead of time to ensure your attendance.

Class Name:  Learn to Knit

Teacher: Sally

Dates: Every Sat. 1 - 3 pm

           Every Weds. 7 -9 pm

 

 

 

Sally will take you through the basics of learning to knit and beyond in this series of classes.
Take as many or as few classes as you need.  In your very first class, you will learn to put stitches on your needles and begin to knit using the knit stitch and yarn over increases.  In your next class, you will learn decreases and how to take your work from the needle to everyday use.   This class has a rolling admission, so you can join at any time.  Come for as many sessions as you wish!

FEE: $16 each for the first three class sessions and $12 for each class session thereafter.

Class Name:  Thrummed Mittens

Thrummed mittens are the ultimate luxury hand covering for the cold winter months. They knit up quickly and make great gifts.  Make one pair for yourself and several for friends and family!

Class Name:  ACK! Now What? Or Fixing Mistakes

Learn to fix the most common knitting mistakes.  Sally will teach you how to read your knitting so you know when something has gone amiss.  HOMEWORK REQUIRED.

FEE: $16 for one session

HOMEWORK: Knit a 4" x 4" swatch in smooth worsted weight yarn on a US 8 needle.  DO NOT BIND OFF.  Stitches should be live on the needle.

Class Name:  The Shapely Tee

It is time to think of spring! The Shapely Tee is the perfect top for warm weather.  With its flattering shaping it is lovely to wear and fun to knit!  This design can also be made without the sleeves. Learn short rows and sweater construction. For the advanced beginner and more experienced knitters. The pattern is available FREE online.  Due to copyright issues, you will have to print the pattern yourself.  Note the link is to the pattern for the sleeves. The Shapely Tank pattern is on another page.  You will need to print both patterns to make the Shapely Tee with sleeves.

Your pieces are all knitted, but how do you sew them together? Finishing knitted items is a simple, but counter intuitive process. Learn to do it right in this class!

Do you love the look of fair isle and other colorwork knitting, but are afraid to try it?  Sally will help you lose your fear of this simple technique in just one session.

Learn basic sweater construction in this fun class.  Each student will knit the pattern of her choice.  Not only will you learn the techniques in your pattern, but in your fellow classmates’ patterns as well!

Lace knitting is fun and challenging.  Learn the tips and tricks of knitting lace while starting on a beautiful lace scarf.  Additional sessions will be available if needed.

Entrelac is a great technique to use with hand dyed striping yarns. Your knitting will look like it is pieced with no sewing involved.

FEE: $24 for two sessions

Weaving for Knitters - Fast!  Fun! Exciting!  From yarn to scarf in no time!  You will learn how to set up your loom and then "weave away."  The Knitter's Loom is simple to understand and operate. The flexibility of the Knitter’s Loom means you can weave during your lunch break, while watching television or when visiting friends. The loom is portable so you can take your project anywhere with the weaving still in place.   This is a wonderful introduction into the world of weaving and is an exciting new way to make use of all the leftover yarns and fancy fibers from your stash.  

Fee: $50 plus $30 for one month Knitter’s Loom rental (Rental fee may be applied to purchase of Knitter’s Loom)

No pattern needed as you explore the exhilarating world of freeform crochet. Create beautiful designs as you work with different fibers and textures in this fun class taught by Marsha Polk, author of Crochet Squared.
